India won three ODI series against Bangladesh by 2-0
On 19th June 2014, Indian Cricket team won the three One Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh by 2-0, which is important news among sports current affairs. Indian team won two ODI's, while the third was abandoned due to rain. Third ODI was being played at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh. Suresh Raina was the Captian of Indian Team and Mushfiqur Rahim was the captain of Bangladesh. Man of the Series trophy was bagged by Stuart Binny of India.
India born girl Pratishtha Khanna honoured with Champions of Change at White House
On 17th June 2014, India-born Pratishtha Khanna was honoured with Champions of Change by the White House. She is one of 10 local Champions of Change honoured for their exemplary leadership in their communities. The other Champions of Change were Hector of Mexico, Steven of Mexico, Sarahi of United States, Kamal of Morocco, Esther of Taiwan, Dayana Elvira Torres of Colombia, Rhustie of Philippines, Ana Zaragoza of Mexico and Anahi Mendoza of Mexico. The programme requires the US immigration authorities to defer removal action for certain undocumented young people who came to the US as children and have pursued education or military service here. They are also often referred to as "DREAMers" as most of them meet the general requirements of the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry O Rogozin visited India
Modi Govt Form in India, In first high-level visit from Russia Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry O Rogozin was on a two-day visit to India. He visited India from 18th to 19th June 2014. During the visit, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. During the meet discussions on a range of bilateral and international issues of mutual interest were made. The two countries decided to step up their cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons, pharmaceuticals, cooking coal and infrastructure and It was decided to increase the bilateral trade beyond the present ten billion dollars. Apart from this many other points were discussed.
NDMA vice chairman M. Shashidhar Reddy resigned
On 17th June 2014, the Vice Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Mr. M Shashidhar Reddy tendered his resignation to to Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, who is also the chairman of NDMA. Mr. Reddy was appointed as a member of the NDMA in 2005 and was promoted to the position of Vice Chairman in December 2010 during the UPA government. Apart from Reddy five other NDMA members also resigned from their positions and they were
